Site Tour of Scott Safety's Guildford Facility
It’s no secret that companies need to constantly evolve to stay on top of the competition, especially from off shore.
Scott Safety, a business unit of Tyco International, is a premiere developer and manufacturer of innovative respiratory protection equipment, other personal protective equipment and safety devices, and in 2014 celebrated 75 years of manufacturing in Australia
A big thank you to Greg Culley and the team at Scott Safety for the opportunity to tour their Guildford manufacturing facility. Scott Safety is an excellent example of a how a Lean culture can transform an organisation into a global leader in its field. A strong proponent of Lean Methodology, Scott Safety has been ‘living the Lean life’ for several years. Daily management, one piece flow and visual management have all been incorporated in this journey.
Greg took us through Scott Safety continuing their TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) journey. Having already implemented One Piece Flow with measurable benefits, we were able to see firsthand how the application of TPM creates a shared responsibility for equipment that encourages greater involvement by plant floor workers and how it has been effective in improving productivity.
